Trailhead Master Plan

The Town of Superior is experiencing rapid population and development growth in 2017 and the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space is in need of greater performance from existing resources and facilities while exploring new and innovative ways to expand their assets in a manner that supports and integrates with the Town’s Park network. Oxbow Design Collaborative provided Master Planning and Design services for a 7.5 acre property that is close to the new Town Center and adjacent to McCaslin Boulevard to the east, open space to the west and new residential development to the north.
The site has the potential to relieve pressure on nearby existing infrastructure while providing a place for residents to park, gather, connect, and access open space to the west.

The master plan included parking for 38 cars, a new and improved vehicular access off Coal Creek Trail and McCaslin Boulevard, pedestrian connections and circulation throughout the site, trailhead signage and wayfinding, stormwater infrastructure, restrooms, a plaza with a shade structure, and xeric gardens.
